Dear Roxanne,
On behalf of all of us here at Highlights, congratulations on winning our Fiction Contest! I enjoyed your winning entry, "Snowday in Space," and I know our readers will too.
Thank you for helping us serve "Fun with a Purpose" to so many kids and families.
Best,

My writing partner Angela Calabrese and me at the 2008 SCBWI Eastern NY Conference. You can read a sample of Angie's work at Stories for Children Magazine. The Lost Show and Tell Surprise is in the June 2008 issue and her article about snail kites Picky, Picky, Snobby Bird is in the May 2008 issue. Angie is my 'motivator.' She keeps me writing and gives a great critique. I'd be lost without her. I'm wearing my Proud to be a BlueBoarder button.
Kim Sabatini and me at the 2008 SCBWI
Conference. Kim has enough energy to solve the world's energy crisis. Lucky for readers she's putting that energy and imagination into her current manuscript.

My online critique buddy Lisa Ponczek, author T.A. Barron, and me at the 2008 Annual Poconos Retreat. Lisa and I met through the ICL course we were taking. We'd known each other online for almost two years. This is the first time we met in person. We had a great time rooming together at the Poconos. T.A. Barron is a truly inspirational speaker. I connected to his talk on the relationship between nature and fantasy writing.
Angie and Gayle Krause , my in person critique partners, at the Poconos. Watch for Gayle's picture book coming out December 2008 with Scholastic Press. Rock the house down with Gayle's Rock Star Santa.
Enjoying the release of the My Teacher Is My Hero anthology at Barnes and Noble. It includes my short story, An Indomitable Spirit, about a martial arts teacher who inspires a dyslexic child.
