The Great Call of China Countdown Contest

In honor of fellow Blueboarder, Cynthea Liu's debut novel I'm going to offer free critiques for the next 10 days. I can't think of a better way to honor Cynthea and Snoop, who've given me such great feedback and encouragement with my own writing.

I know my sidekick, Sirius Black (my pet cat, bet you can't guess his color), doesn't have Snoop's ear for dialogue, but he loves tales (especially his own). So if you email me at this site and can provide a quote from Cynthea's site and the link (hint it's posted in my favorite writer sites) I will select the 10th email tomorrow, the 9th the next day and so on down till February 19th to receive a free critique from me. That's 10 chances to get some free feedback on your work. I don't claim to be Cynthea, but my critique partners say I give a good critique. If you are picked I will email you and tell you. The winners can send me in .doc format either one Picture Book up to 1000 words, a magazine story up to 1000 words, or the first 10 pages of a mid grade or YA novel.

Counting down until ....................February 19th, 2009

when Cynthea's novel The Great Call of China is released.
When Cece learns of an opportunity to visit Xi'an, China through the S.A.S.S. program, she leaps at the chance. What better place to explore her passion for anthropology? While she's at it she can also do a little digging into her own past and discover her birth parents. What will Cece find when she leaves the dust of Texas behind and answers The Great Call of China?

Cynthea's sidekick Snoop. He has a great ear (two actually)

and loves to munch on raw manuscripts.
